I’m really excited to be nominated for a news Emmy!
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced that NBC News Now and NBC News Specials were nominated for our reporting on Hurricane Ian in the “Outstanding Live Breaking News Coverage” category at the 44th Annual News and Documentary Emmy® Awards.
As a journalist who loves hard news and feels a real sense of responsibility to educate our viewers about important world events, being nominated in this category is very special.
Seeing my name listed as a nominee in the Emmy program really is a surreal experience!
Our team is nominated in the same category as CNN’s coverage of the war in Ukraine, CBS Morning’s coverage of the school shooting in Uvalde, TX, and another entry from NBC News Specials covering the Uvalde shooting.
The awards were presented at the Palladium Times Square in New York City and ultimately CNN took home the trophy in this category, but it is a real honor to be nominated.
I’ve dreamed of being nominated since I was a teenager recording newscasts in my parents’ basement. Nine years ago, I won two “College Emmys” (aka The National Academy of Arts and Sciences Boston/New England Chapter 2014 College/University Awards for Excellence), and now I’m an Emmy-nominated producer!
