HARTFORD — Hillary Clinton is the presidential candidate who Connecticut residents gave the most money to so far in the 2016 campaign, but Jeb Bush is not far behind, according to new campaign contribution data.
Fox CT analyzed the data from the Federal Election Commission that was released this month and some interesting facts emerged about which candidates that Connecticut supports. You can explore all the data in Fox CT’s interactive map below.
- In total, 1,862 Connecticut residents donated to presidential campaigns so far– totaling $1,684,420.
- The top town in the state for donations is Greenwich with $652,703. Westport is number two with $110,411.
- State residents donated $819,658 to Clinton, $531,350 to Bush and $80,546 to Marco Rubio.
- After donors who are self-employed, which was number one, the top employers of donors were homemakers, Yale University, Goldman Sachs, and Xerox.
- Donors reported the top occupations were retired, homemaker, attorney, CEO, and executive.
- Linda McMahon, of Greenwich, who previously ran for governor and U.S. Senate, donated a total of $5,400– $2,700 to Bush and $2,700 to Carly Fiorina.
