The Connecticut Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists awarded Marcus Harun one first-place and two second-place awards at the annual CTSPJ awards banquet and annual meeting on May 22, 2014.

He took home the first and second place prizes in the “Video Feature” category for two segments from the interview show he anchors and executive produces, Marcus Harun Reports.

First Place, Video Feature

The first-place award is for an interview segment with Fernando Bermudez, a man who was imprisoned for 18 years for murder, then found innocent.

Second Place, Video Feature

The second-place award in the “Video Feature” category is for an interview segment with former ABC World News anchor Charles Gibson about reporting on the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This segment also earned a 2014 College/University Emmy award.

Second Place, Video General Reporting

The second-place award in the “Video General Reporting” category is for an investigation into the CDC’s claim?that drug-resistant bacteria can cause a “catastrophe.”
